How much does it cost to eat gold in Dubai?

It is said that all that glitters is gold in Dubai, and the food is no exception. Eating gold started as a considerable eccentricity, but it's becoming more common in this city. Hotels and restaurants strive to create drinks, desserts, and complete meals inspired by this metal, and here I explain what it tastes like and how much it costs to eat gold in Dubai.

What does gold taste like?

Gold does not have a flavor that adds something different to food; it is a luxury used as decoration in haute cuisine. It is anti-allergic, has a neutral taste, and is chemically inert.

How much does it cost to eat gold in Dubai?

Believe it or not, the United Arab Emirates is not the number one consumer of gold in the world. This title is held in India and is used to decorate wedding cakes and other typical party dishes. However, eating gold in Dubai has become somewhat "typical" among travelers looking to experience the eccentricities of this city. Know more about Bosporus Turkish Restaurant In Dubai.

Eating gold is not cheap, but there are many more accessible options than you would imagine. One of the emblematic places to consume this product is at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi (the neighboring emirate of Dubai). The most significant drink here is the Palace Cappuccino and coffee sprinkled with gold sprinkles. Its cost is around 20 USD or 73 AED. There is a cheaper option that is ice cream accompanied by gold. This has a cost of 60 AED or 17 USD.

Of course, if you decide to go to the Emirates Palace, you should know that there is a minimum consumption of 100 AED or 28 USD to enter the Palace Cappuccino, its famous restaurant. But if you don't want to spend that amount, you should know that you can pay a minimum consumption of only 12 USD in Le Cafe, located next to the fountains in the hotel's garden.

The other advantage of this second option is that you do not need a reservation. It is much less prevalent than  Palace Cappuccino, where full buses of tourists arrive on excursions, making the experience much less memorable.

Below is the price of some of its main products (2020 prices):

  • Emirates Palace Cappuccino: AED 73 or USD 20
  • Palace Hot Chocolate (hot chocolate sprinkled with gold): 73 AED or 20 USD
  • Ice Gold (ice cream with gold): 60 AED or 17 use

Other popular options to taste gold in Dubai are at the famous Burj Al Arab hotel, where several of its desserts and dishes are decorated with gold. Here is an example:

Even if you choose one of the Burj Al Arab menus, you shouldn't be surprised if one of your meals includes a pinch of precious metal.

Another option is to drink coffee with gold offered by the Armani Hotel in Dubai. The cost is 100 AED or about 25 USD.
